Here is my layout based on seeing the world through my son's eyes and using lots of distressing techniques.
Journaling reads: "Through your eyes, the world is miraculous and new, full of endless possibilities, days of countless discoveries, feats mastered and so much laughter, and I feel so blessed to be along for the adventure.

Something to try: Distressing
I love layering pattern paper, it adds alot of depth to a layout. However, to ensure that all the layers do not blend together and look chaotic, I do alot of distressing to set the layers apart. My go to method is inking. I use Tim Holtz distress inks and simply use the applicator to swipe antique photo (a nice brown ink) along all the sides of my paper. It is one of the easiest ways to make the edges of a page stand out. I also love cutting my journaling into strips and to distress the strips, so that they do not look so stark against the rest of my layout. Another distressing technique to try is roughing up the edge of a paper by using Making Memories distress tool. It adds so much texture to the page, giving your layout a more organic feel.

Something to think about: The world through your child's eyes
How does your child see the world? Has their view on life changed the way you perceive life? I recently found this photo of my son and I looking out of an outcove on a playground and I absolutely love it, because it looks like I am trying to see the world as he does, and believe me I try to, I try to hold onto the magic and wonderment that the everyday holds to a child, knowing that it is the truest way to see life.
Falling in love with Scrapbooking
I fell in love with Scrapbooking about 7 years ago, after my son was born. I always loved to write and I always loved creating and I did both since I was a little girl. When I was little, before I could even write, I use to construct little books by folding pieces of paper together and stapling them, and on those pages I would draw pictures and I would narrorate the story I came up with to whoever would listen. As I got older, I wrote short stories, or more often half-finished stories, poetry, and journal entries. I still loved creating, I loved the visual effect of combining pictures and design elements with my words, but being that I was not much of a drawer, words were all I had and I settled on writing them in different color pens or in some kind of design. Then I discovered scrapbooking and found a way to bring all the stories, thoughts, and feelings I had hidden away in a journal somewhere to life, by combining them with my photos and beautiful paper and embellishments that added another layer of meaning and depth to my words. I was completely in love. And 7 years later, I am still just as madly in love with it, if not more so. I thought I would start this blog to share my love of scrapbooking, because it adds so much to my life, giving me a creative outlet to explore my own thoughts and feeling, as well as a more thought-provoking and gracious view on life because I am focusing on all the little moments and details of life that make life so worth living. Come visit daily, I hope to put up prompts for journaling, techniques to try, and my finished layouts for inspiration.
